Music from the Northern Isles
Based in Orkney and run by Owen Tierney, Attic Records aims to capture and promote the wealth of musical tradition which abounds in the northern islands. The unique atmosphere of the islands has proved inspirational for many of the musicians featured by Attic.
Over the past decade more than forty albums have been released, offering a wide selection of traditional music encompassing works by local musicians and musical institutions. These include Orkney Strathspey and Reel Society, Kirkwall City Pipe Band, and Orkney Accordion and Fiddle Club, as well as Scottish dance band line ups from Albert Linklater and Ronnie Jamieson.
Several compilation albums featuring works by various artists can be found in the Attic collection, alongside albums by soloists and groups including Ivan Drever, now professional and a member of the Scottish folk rock band 'Wolfstone', and Jennifer and Hazel Wrigley also pursuing a career in music from their mainland base in Edinburgh.
Attic Records offers full recording studio facilities to local and visiting artists alike.
