Based in North Kessock just across the Moray Firth from Inverness, Lewis Recordings is owned and run by Donnie Maclean a Gaelic speaker from the Isle of Lewis in the Outer Hebrides.
Donnie started to record Gaelic and Christian twenty-five years ago because in his words “The wealth of Gaelic culture and music was going almost un-noticed and unrecognised beyond the Highlands. I felt it needed to be captured before it was lost. Since I had the recording equipment and no-one else was doing it, I decided I should do all I could.”
Luckily the Gaelic revival movement has passed the culture and music on to new generations and they too have been captured by Lewis Recordings which has now built up an impressive and unique catalogue currently standing at fifty-five titles. A good selection are available here on the Celtic Gathering site.
