| RAJ aka Real Acoustic Jam was formed by Charlie McKerron (Capercaillie) in 1999 to highlight music from the North of Scotland. Focusing on spontaneous performances the label strives to bring exciting acoustic music to a wider audience. 'Get ready to be transported into another world and check out the craic and spirit of our recordings.' Explosive Fiddlers The Explosive Fiddlers project began in 1999 with the collaboration between 4 fiddle players; Duncan Chisholm, Paul Anderson, James Alexander and Charlie McKerron and 1 man and his piano, Andy Thorburn. The group subsequently toured the North East of Scotland to much acclaim. The CD features original and self penned compositions in a variety of solo styles and also features some exciting group playing. Session A9 Is an amazing collaboration between some of the country's leading musical talent. On fiddle; Duncan Chisholm, Gordon Gunn, Adam Sutherland, Charlie McKerron with Kris Drever on guitar and vocals, Tim Edey; melodeon and guitar, Brian McAlpine; keyboards and accordion, with guest appearances by Ewen Vernal; acoustic bass, and David Chimp Robertson on percussion. This democratic outfit have finely tuned this CD through various distillation processes to bring you a creative original and uplifting musical experience. They are a line-up who will only be seen occasionally throughout the year due to the fact that they are all already gigging with full time bands. They have appeared at Go North, Feis an Eilean, Skye, Rievers Festival Hawick, Hootanannys, Highland Festival and will next be seen at Celtic Connections. If you hear they are playing go and see them as they may not be around again for another year! |
